2023: Fintiri emerges Adamawa PDP guber candidate

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State Wednesday emerged as the gubernatorial flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general elections.

The Governor who contested as the sole candidate of the party was reelected by six hundred and sixty-three delegates during the PDP primary elections that were held at Mahmud Ribadu Square, in Yola.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee Barrister Gabon Timothy Kataps who announced the results said a total of six hundred and sixty-eight (668) delegates were accredited for the exercise out of which five of the votes (5) were voided.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Umaru Fintiri thanked the PDP delegates and party stakeholders for the mandate given to him to again fly the ticket of the party in the next year’s elections.

The Governor recalled how he carried the PDP flag to victory in 2019, he said that has enabled his administration to stabilize policies and provide governance with amazing satisfaction across the state.

He stressed that within his three years in office government was able to address insecurity, provide physical infrastructure with unquantifiable vigour, and reformed civil service, and education among several other developmental strides

Governor Fintiri congratulated all PDP aspirants who emerged winners, assuring them that the party will stand by them and called on those who were not successful to support the party’s course.

He opined that it is duty-bound of all Adamawa delegates and people to support and ensure the former vice president Atiku Abubakar emerges the presidential flag bearer of the PDP in the next elections.

The State Congress was attended by former vice president Atiku Abubakar who is the frontline presidential aspirant on the platform of the PDP among other top government functionaries party chieftains and stalwarts including a vast majority of the party faithful.
