The Federal Road Safety Corps has warned motorists of heavy congestion on the Abuja–Kaduna Highway due to increased Eid-el-Kabir travel and ongoing road construction, and urged drivers to use an alternative route to avoid delays.
In a travel advisory issued Saturday, the Corps said the worst affected area is the Nasarawa Azara axis between Katari and Jere towns, where traffic flow has slowed considerably.
It attributed the gridlock to a surge in holiday traffic and reckless driving, including dangerous overtaking and lane indiscipline.
To ease movement, the FRSC advised motorists traveling between Kaduna and Abuja to use the Kaduna–Kachia–Maraban Kubacha–Jere–Bwari–Dutse Abuja route and vice versa.
The Corps also urged road users to maintain lane discipline, avoid one-way driving, obey traffic officials, and drive responsibly.
FRSC reassured the public of its commitment to ensuring safer and smoother movement throughout the festive period.
