I think If the PDP had fielded a mosquito against APC yesterday, they would still have won the election. In fact, their victory happened four years ago. The manifestation was only delayed till yesterday. Former Governor Aregbesola laid the foundation for their victory in his second term and with his conduct since he left office. In good conscience, words must not be minced in saying that he mismanaged the state.
Anger against him and APC started gathering momentum right before he left office. People expressed their anger four years ago at the polls, but somehow, the party was able to circumvent the result of their anger. This time around, the people went all out to say, “enough is enough”.
Governor Oyetola was doing his best within the limited resources available to heal the state from the abysmal ruins one person put it in. I personally feel bad he will not be able to consolidate on it by having another term. The sins of his predecessor were visited on him.
Uncertainty lies ahead of us in Osun with the incoming new Governor. It is only natural that some of us, thinkers, are afraid of what lies ahead, we know what has gone by, a Governor that we trusted, who came forward with solid ideologies failed us. If we now have one who we can’t readily link with any particular ideology , we would be scared.
And we are, but we are hopeful that “light” is truly what we will have. The word “Imole” portends a good thing. We just want progress, for the best interest of the majority of people to be served. That’s all. We are progressives, we are reformers and some of us are really sincere in our beliefs.
I congratulate the PDP and our incoming Governor Adeleke on the victory yesterday. Olorun a fun yin se sir. Ipinle Osun a te siwaju si nigba ti yin. Amin.
Meanwhile, I have a grouse about people who were on both sides yesterday. Kilode? Learn to be bold in standing wherever you want to stand. This is not about being broad minded o, some people were making all sorts of watery posts, afraid to pin themselves to any party yesterday. It was after the winner was declared that they had the boldness to associate with him and his party. Se oju ijo ti e ma jo ni odun merin n ti yin ni? If you ask me, that was cowardly. Nobody got time for “sekuseye”. Think about it sha.
We move.
