Debt burden: El-Rufai’s son takes a swipe at Kaduna governor

Bashir El-Rufai, a son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has taken a swipe at Governor Uba Sani over his comment lamenting the debt burden he inherited.

The Kaduna governor had said that despite inheriting a debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities from the previous administration, he and his team remain resolute in steering Kaduna State towards progress and sustainable development.

But defending his father’s administration, Bashir said the Kaduna governor, as Senator, “lobbied and approved” the loans that he is now lamenting over.

“FYI [For Your Information]: He was the senator from Kaduna who lobbied and approved the loans,” he posted on X, formerly Twitter.

The current administration in Kaduna is building a banquet hall for 7BN naira and is lamenting about debt left by the previous administration.

“These guys have realised that they are wholly incompetent and the only way to mask the nonsense is to deflect. From a Governor that is always sleeping in Abuja to a litany of incompetent aides that were only rewarded for foolish political reasons.

“One would think that from all the FAAC allocations these unserious clowns have changed to dollars, debt would be the least of their problems,” Bashir said in a series of posts.
