FRSC impounds vehicles over fake, unauthorised number plates in Abuja, Lagos

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has intensified enforcement under Operation GUDUMA Phase Two, with simultaneous operations in Abuja and Lagos on Tuesday.

In Abuja, the Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Operations, Dr. Godwin Omiko, in collaboration with the FCT Sector Commander, Corps Commander Iliyasu Tijani and his team, led the operation at City Gate Centre.

The operation targeted motorists using fake, unauthorised and improperly displayed vehicle number plates, including diplomatic plates. Several vehicles were impounded for various number plate violations.

Similarly, in Lagos, the Zonal Commanding Officer, RS2HQ, ACM Matthew O. Olonisaye, alongside officers of RS2.1 and RS2.15 Ojota Unit Command, supervised enforcement activities along the Lagos-Ibadan corridor.

The Corps said the operation is aimed at curbing vehicle identity fraud, improving highway security, reducing road traffic crashes and strengthening FRSC’s operational visibility.

The FRSC urged motorists to obtain and process their vehicle number plates through the appropriate authorities, warning that the use of fake or unauthorised plates will attract enforcement action.
