Operatives of the Kebbi state Hisbah have arrested one Muhammad Dahiru, for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in Birnin-Kebbi.
Dahiru, who is from Koko/Besse Local Government Area of the state, was arrested on Monday, December 11.
This was made known via the Facebook page of the Kebbi State Hisbah.
The post written in Hausa reads: “A 33 year old man has been arrested for raping a 12 year old girl.
“Hisbah government of Kebbi state has succeeded in arresting 33 years old man named Muhammad Dahiru from Koko besse local government in Birnin Kebbi town, a 12 year old child raped by Kabu Kabu and escaped her into the bush.
“Responding to questions Dahiru confirmed Hisbah has met the suspect, Hisbah has transferred to the police for full investigation and action.”
Dateline Nigeria reports that this is coming about three weeks after one Habibu Umar, 16, was arrested for defiling two girls aged 5 and 6.
Umar was arrested by the Hisbah in Unguwar Badariya in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
Habibu Umar confessed to committing the crime after hospital in Kebbi confirmed the defilement of the two young girls. Hisbah has handed over the suspect to the police for further investigation.
