
The Kano State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, has recorded another major breakthrough in its sustained onslaught against vehicle theft and other property crimes in the State.
On 17th April 2026 at about 0700hrs, a resident of Danbare Quarters, Gwale LGA, Kano State, reported at the Command that her unregistered Pontiac Vibe vehicle, blue in colour, was stolen from her residence by unknown persons at about 0300hrs of the same date.
Upon receipt of the complaint, and in the direction of the Commissioner of Police, operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) immediately swung into action.
Through intelligence-led investigation and swift tactical operation, the stolen vehicle was successfully recovered from an uncompleted building in Dutse LGA, Jigawa State.
The operation also led to the arrest of three suspects believed to be members of an interstate car theft syndicate.
The suspects are: i) Shuaibu Abdullahi, ‘m’, 37yrs, of Nasarawa Ward, Gombe State. ii) Shuaibu Zakariya, ‘m’, 24yrs, of Federal Low-Cost, Bauchi State. iii) Abdurahman Ibrahim, ‘m’, 35yrs, of Dadin-Kowa Village, Deba LGA, Gombe State.
All suspects are currently in Police custody and have made useful statements. The case remains under investigation, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commends the Commander and operatives of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) for their professionalism, swift response, and intelligence-driven approach which led to the prompt recovery of the vehicle and arrest of the suspects outside the State.
He noted that Kano State Police Command has demonstrated capacity, discipline, and commitment in tackling complex crimes in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM.
CP Bakori assures residents of Kano State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property.
He urges members of the public to continue to support the Police with timely and credible information, and to adopt basic security measures such as using steering locks, parking in secured places, and promptly reporting suspicious movements around their neighbourhoods.
The Command warns criminal elements to desist from their nefarious activities, as the Police will continue to deploy all lawful means to apprehend and prosecute them.
