Yariman Zazzau Munir Jaafaru has been hailed for paying allegiance to the new Emir of Zazzau Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli.
Jaafaru, whose father Malam Jaafaru Dan Isyaku died as emir of Zazzau in 1959, was the only contender from the Barebari ruling house.
The former head of the National Maritime Authority (NMA), now NIMASA, was also among the three princes earlier recommended by the kingmakers before the process was jettisoned by the Kaduna State Government.
After congratulating the new emir, Yarima followed up with a visit to the palace where he paid allegiance in line with tradition.
Dateline Nigeria reports that this singular act did a lot to neutralise, if not pacify the numerous supporters of Yariman Zazzau who is seen as a popular and selfless leader.
Speaking after the homage to the new emir, Alhaji Munir Ja’afaru enjoined him to serve the people like his ancestors did and also try to surpass their achievement considering the rich heritage they have passed down to the Emirate.
He also pleged their support and loyalty to Emir Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli for the overall betterment and progress of the emirate council.
Ibaheem A. Waziri, a public affairs commentator, in a short piece titled “Congratulations Yeriman Zazzau: Congratulations Sarki Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli” commended Alhaji Munir Jaafaru and prayed for the new Emir.
“In the past two weeks I had sleepless nights. Worked more than I can remember doing in the last four years. I hoped and wanted Yeriman Zazzau Mal. Muhammadu Munir Ja’afar to emerge as the 19th Emir Zazzau.
“I prepared and thoroughly edited a piece that would have qualified as one of my best ever written, waiting only for the official announcement . But Allah is the most kind. Yerima will not be appointed and I will not publish it! So Allah willed. “Radhiyna Kismat Al jabbar Fiyna!
“For Sarkin Zazzau Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli. Congratulations. Ahmadu is honourable, chivalrous and charismatic. I and my family have nothing but notes of gratitude to Mallawa. It was Sarki Aliyu Dan Sidi, towards the end of his reign, that appointed one of our grandparents, Malam Umaru Muhammadu, Magatakardan Zazzau.
“Our parents and Mallawa have lived trusting each other with their lives. I have collected some incidents in my 2009 yet to be published book. May Allah strengthen him to discharge his responsibilities as an Emir fairly,” Waziri wrote on his Facebook page.
Another Facebook user, who identified herself as Arewa Queen, hailed the Yariman Zazzau for his maturity and display of equanimity.
“We are proud of you for the maturity you displayed. A good man that is respected by all as a kind person. May Almighty Allah guide you and give you what is better than Zazzau emirship both in this world and the hereafter,” she prayed, adding that the Barebari ruling house will forever be proud of him.
Mukhtar Maigamo, an aide to Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, said “Alh Munir Ja’afaru, one of the strong contenders for the throne today bowed before the new Emir- a customary act of allegiance.
“This is not only a display of equanimity, but total submission to the Will of Allah as the ultimate giver of throne.
“Yarima earned my respect today and I pray that Allah will give him something that’s best for him.”
