NNPP state chairmen visit Kwankwaso in wake of suspension by BoT

As news of his suspension by the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) spreads the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the party Rabiu Kwankwaso received state chairmen of the party on solidarity visit.

The NNPP BoT, at a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, suspended Kwankwaso and one other member over alleged anti-party activities. The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party was equally suspended.

Addressing newsmen at the end of the meeting in Lagos, Secretary of the BoT, Babayo Abdulahi, accused Kwankwaso of hobnobbing with President Bola Tinubu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Mr. Peter Obi, without the board’s authorisation.

While noting that Kwankwaso had also been stripped of the NNPP national leader status by the board, Abdullahi said the suspension is to take effect for a period of six months in the first instance.

The BoT appointed new national officers headed by Dr Agbo Major as acting National Chairman and Mr Ogini Olaposi as acting National Secretary with 18 others.

But Kwankwaso downplayed the suspension slammed on him. Rather, he chose to share pictures of NNPP state chairmen who visited him alongside other top officials of the party at his Abuja residence.

“Earlier today, I received all state party chairmen of our party, the NNPP, alongside other top officials of the party, on a homage at my residence in Abuja. I’m thankful for the visit. And I commend them for their continued efforts in upholding the party’s principles,” Kwankwaso said.
