If wife of the Kaduna State governor, Hadiza Isma El-Rufai will have her way, a woman will succeed Emir of Zazzau Alhaji Shehu Idris.
Commenting on her twitter handle, the wife of the governor asked: “In the interest of gender equality, Govenor Nasir El-Rufai can we get another Queen Amina of Zazzau?”
The tweet by Hadiza El-Rufai has been generating comments on her timeline.
Another wife of the Kaduna State governor, Asia Ahmad was among the respondents. “I support but please can we get a list of the eligible ones?” she asked.
Abubakar Hidima, who idetifies himself as a researcher, also said he supports the proposal of another Queen Amina of Zazzau.
“Of recent, we have received so much banters from our slaves from Kano. History needs to repeat itself. We need to capture some gates & rename them Ƙofar Mata 1, 2, 3 & so on.
“Signed, Hidiman Zazzau,” he posted.
Already, eight princes, all male, of the Zazzau Emirate have indicated interest in succeeding the late Shehu Idris.
The council of kingmakers will shortlist three candidates and forward to Governor Nasir El-Rufai to make the final choice.
