Chairman of the THISDAY/ARISE Media Group, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, has officially launched LekeeLekee, a new social media platform developed by the company as part of its digital expansion strategy.
In a statement, Obaigbena announced that LekeeLekee is now available on the App Store, Google Play, and the web, and can also be accessed as a Progressive Web App (PWA), ensuring seamless use across different devices and varying connectivity conditions.
Described as a fast, cutting-edge social media platform and super app, LekeeLekee was created by ARISE Broadcast and THISDAY Media Group to address what the organisation calls “the realities of underserved networks and communities.”
The platform is designed to perform efficiently in low-bandwidth environments, providing low-data, high-speed feeds, video sharing, instant messaging with voice notes, community groups, and built-in content moderation tools.
Obaigbena explained that LekeeLekee represents a strategic response to the disconnect between global technology platforms and local realities.
“For too long, global platforms have been built far from our realities. LekeeLekee is our answer — a platform that is fast, fair, and open, one that amplifies voices rather than extracting them,” he said.
He added that LekeeLekee is more than a social networking site; it is a digital ecosystem aimed at empowering users, encouraging authentic engagement, and fostering inclusive online communities.
Industry analysts view the launch as a major step for THISDAY/ARISE Media Group into the competitive social media space, leveraging its strong broadcasting and print media presence to offer a homegrown digital alternative.
Obaigbena urged users to embrace the platform, describing it as an opportunity to help shape a more equitable digital landscape. “Join us in the freedom to own our new digital future,” the statement said.
