Kaduna flags off 2026 Hajj, urges pilgrims to uphold state’s image

The Kaduna State Government on Wednesday flagged off the inaugural flight for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, with Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe representing Governor Uba Sani at the ceremony.

Addressing intending pilgrims at the Mando Hajj Transit Camp, Dr. Balarabe described the journey as “one of the most profound spiritual obligations” for Muslims and urged them to undertake it with devotion and complete submission to Allah.

She cautioned them to strictly obey Saudi Arabian laws, avoid conduct that could tarnish the image of Kaduna State and Nigeria, and follow all approved procedures and protocols from officials and guides.

The Deputy Governor assured pilgrims and their families of the state government’s commitment to a smooth and successful Hajj.

She said extensive upgrades at the Mando Hajj Transit Camp, initiated by Governor Uba Sani, were designed to improve comfort and convenience. The facility now features standard accommodation, upgraded sanitary facilities, a modern multipurpose hall, an ICT centre, enhanced healthcare services, improved security arrangements, and newly constructed business stalls.

Dr. Balarabe also appealed to pilgrims to pray for lasting peace, progress, and prosperity in Kaduna State and Nigeria while in the Holy Land.

Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, warned pilgrims against accepting packages from others, especially at airports, noting that such items could contain prohibited substances.

He also advised against carrying unnecessary items, including kolanuts, saying they are not required for the pilgrimage.

In his welcome address, Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Mal. Salihu Sani Abubakar, commended Governor Uba Sani for the improvements at the camp and for prioritizing pilgrims’ welfare.

He highlighted that Kaduna’s accommodation in the Holy Land is “second to none” among Nigerian states.
