National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to greater inclusion of women in governance and political leadership. He pledged to secure more elective and appointive positions for them ahead of the next political dispensation.
Prof Yilwatda made the pledge earlier today while receiving a delegation of APC women at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja. The delegation was led by National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Alile Idele, alongside the six Zonal Women Leaders and State Women Leaders from across the federation.
Describing the engagement as “fruitful,” the APC Chairman said the visit provided an opportunity to discuss the critical role of women in the growth of the party and national development.
“I made it clear that the APC remains determined to secure more elective and appointive positions for women in the forthcoming political dispensation,” he said. “Our women have consistently demonstrated capacity, competence, resilience and loyalty to the party, and it is only fitting that they occupy more seats at decision-making tables across the country.”
He described women as the “enduring pillars of our party,” noting their role in mobilizing support, strengthening party structures, and contributing to every electoral victory recorded by the APC, “in moments of triumph and in periods of challenge.”
“Like flowers that bring beauty, colour and fragrance to a home, our women bring value, strength, energy and inspiration to our great party,” Prof Yilwatda said. “It is therefore our collective responsibility to ensure that more women emerge as legislators, political leaders and key government appointees at all levels.”
The National Chairman assured the delegation that he would continue to champion the cause of women within party and government structures, ensuring their voices are heard and contributions adequately recognized.
“The future of our daughters and generations yet unborn depends on the opportunities we create today,” he added.
The meeting signals the APC’s renewed push for gender inclusion as the party begins preparations for future elections, with emphasis on translating women’s mobilization strength into increased representation in elective offices.
