Five people have died in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State following the explosion of landmine buried by bandits between Gurusu and Gwashi communities.
The state Governor Dauda Lawal confirmed this in a post on his Facebook page where he condoled with the family of political leader Hon. Mu’azu Gwashi who was killed by bandits after holding him for months.
The post, which was in Hausa, reads: “I commiserate with the people of Bukkuyum Local Government Area over the tragic explosion of landmine buried by bandits, which led to the death of five people between Gurusu and Gwashi communities.
“I also send my condolences to the family of Hon. Mu’azu Gwashi who has been killed after spending months in bandits den.
“May Almighty Allah forgive them and have mercy on their souls. May He also bring an end to this problem.”
Dateline Nigeria reports that Gwashi was kidnapped on the same day a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was attacked in Bukkuyum.
