Troops of the Nigerian Army’s Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected bandit and recovered arms and other items during a roadblock operation in Kaduna State.
The operation was carried out on May 8, 2026, by soldiers of 2 Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base Dogon Dawa.
The troops intercepted 32-year-old Ibrahim Adamu while he was riding a motorcycle at Damari in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.
A search of the suspect yielded one AK-47 magazine, three mobile phones, Indian hemp, and other items, according to the Army.

A preliminary examination of the suspect’s phone also revealed photographs showing him in military camouflage and armed with a PKT machine gun alongside other suspected bandits.

The suspect and the recovered items are now in military custody for further investigation.
The Army said the arrest reflects its continued efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of action and to strengthen security for law-abiding citizens in the North West.
It added that operations against insecurity across the country will be sustained in line with its constitutional mandate to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national peace.
