Governor Bala picks APM Senate nomination form for Bauchi South

Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Allied People’s Movement (APM), has announced his intention to contest the Bauchi South Senatorial seat under the party’s platform in the upcoming elections.

The governor made the declaration during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the APM in Abuja, which was presided over by National Chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle and attended by senior party officials and stakeholders.

The meeting served as the Bauchi governor’s first formal introduction to the party’s leadership structure following his defection.

Speaking at the session, he said Nigeria’s political environment has been increasingly marked by undemocratic practices and intimidation, making it difficult for progressive leaders and movements to participate and survive.

After “wide consultations” with associates, stakeholders, and supporters nationwide, Governor Bala Mohammed said the APM emerged as the platform that best reflects their shared vision for good governance, internal democracy, justice, inclusiveness, and respect for the rule of law.

“Our decision to join the party was driven by conviction and the desire to contribute meaningfully to building a stronger democratic culture in Nigeria,” he stated.

The governor also revealed that the movement to the APM includes a significant bloc of former PDP officeholders and stakeholders from Bauchi State.

According to him, members of the National Assembly, the Bauchi State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, commissioners, ward executives, party officials, and grassroots supporters have all aligned with the new political movement.

He assured the APM leadership of his readiness to provide resources, experience, and political support to strengthen the party at all levels.

During the NEC meeting, he officially picked up his nomination form to run for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat on the APM ticket.
