World Bank to support Bauchi construct 1000 rural feeder roads

The Chairman of Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State Alhaji Garba Musa has explained that World Bank will support the state government to construct 1000 rural feeder roads across the 20 local Government Areas of the State.

Musa said the state government is also partnering with Gombe State Government and the North East Development Commission NEDC to construct the long awaited Kirfi – Gombe Abba 73 kilometer road as part of effort to reduce the problems of road transportation in the area.

The chairman stated this on Wednesday in Bauchi while speaking with reporters.

He said the roads will be constructed as part of the effort and zeal of Governor Bala Mohammed to provide road networks in the rural areas, and to help farmers access Agricultural Markets with ease to sale their farm produce.

The chairman said already the arrangent to kick start the projects reached advance stage as the Governor has paid his own share of counterpart funding in order to Access the funds and World Bank has pledged to support the state government with funds to fast track the execution of the project.

He said the project was part of the determination of the present administration in the state to ensure rural farmers transport their products without any hitches.

On the Kirfi to Gombe Abba road Garba said communities in the area are yearning for the construction of the road over 50 years ago its now that government show politic will to execute the project.

He said already NEDC sent surveyors that carried our the survey on the road,interface with the communities.and carry the soil of the area for laboratory analysis as part of the preparation to kick start the project.

He said in order to show his commitment Governor Bala pledged to look for money and construct the road if NEDC fail to do it.The Chairman thanked the state Government for their prompt response on the issue of health and embarking on the construction of comprehensive health centers and maternities which address the problems of maternal mortality and create more access to health for people in the Rural areas
